Councillors Attend Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony
On Monday 23rd June 2025, Councillors Wendy Robinson, Tara Jefferies, and Christine Onan proudly represented Great Linford Parish Council at the Armed Forces Flag Raising event held outside Milton Keynes City Council Civic Offices.

The ceremony marked the start of a week of national recognition leading up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday 28th June. Armed Forces Week is an opportunity for communities across the UK to show support for the entire Armed Forces community – from serving personnel and reservists to veterans, cadets, and military families.

Armed Forces Day serves as a reminder of the dedication and sacrifice made by those who serve and have served in the UK’s Armed Forces. The week also includes Reserves Day, taking place on Wednesday 25th June, which shines a spotlight on the valuable contribution of Reservists to national defence and local communities.
Cllr Wendy Robinson commented:
“We were honoured to attend the flag raising and stand in support of the Armed Forces community. It's important to take this time each year to recognise the service, commitment, and sacrifices made by so many.”

Cllr Tara Jefferies added:
“Events like this remind us that behind every uniform is a person, a family, a community, and a legacy of service. We are proud to show our gratitude.”

Cllr Christine Onan also shared:
“The Armed Forces are an essential part of our national identity. It was a privilege to attend and pay tribute on behalf of our parish – especially in the same week that Great Linford Parish Council will be proudly signing the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing our commitment to supporting those who serve or have served, and their families.”

Great Linford Parish Council extends its thanks to all members of the Armed Forces – past and present – for their continued dedication and service.
