Community Events in and around Great Linford Parish

Welcome to this month's edition of community news, where we highlight the vibrant events and activities happening across our parish and in neighbouring areas.
Milton Keynes Arts Centre is excited to introduce 'We Live Here', a new project inspired by last year’s Art and Mini-Bioblitz activities!

In June 2024, we welcomed ecologist Phillip Snell and artist Ciara Callaghan to lead an Art and Mini-Bioblitz near the underpasses connecting Beanhill and Netherfield. This event highlighted the importance of urban spaces as wildlife habitats and showcased the community’s enthusiasm for engaging with local biodiversity.

'We Live Here' continues this mission, offering opportunities for residents to rediscover the variety of species in their neighbourhoods and rethink how they interact with these spaces in thoughtful and imaginative ways. Through a range of workshops and events, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for their natural surroundings and the diverse life they support.

As part of the event, there will be family-friendly art activities led by artist Cathy Ebbels, designed to strengthen participants’ connection with nature. Cathy is an experienced artist and educator specializing in mosaic, collage, mixed media, drawing, and art education.

Stay tuned for more details on 'We Live Here' events and how to take part!

On Sunday 13 April at 7:00pm to hear a top quality performance of Bach St John Passion by The Cornerstone Chamber Choir, Orchestra and soloists, directed by local maestro, Adrian Boynton.

Bach St John Passion is a sacred oratorio for four-part choir, soloists and orchestra.
It was first performed on Good Friday, 7th April 1724 at the church in Leipzig where Bach had recently taken a position.

It is a haunting and dramatic depiction of the Passion of Christ using the text from the Gospel of John, the passage traditionally read on Good Friday.
Hop along to Willen Lake for their free Easter trail open 10am to 4pm, from Saturday 5 April to Monday 21 April.

The trail is under 1km long and follows a circular route that both starts and ends at the Watersports Centre. Along the way, children will get to answer questions and be treated to a selection of Easter and Spring themed jokes that are sure to bring a smile. It’s a great way for families to stretch their legs and enjoy a fun activity together.

Our trail is most suited to children under 8 years of age but everyone is welcome to take part.

Visit the Watersports Centre booking desk to collect your answer sheet.
