Bringing Communities Together: Crime Prevention Roadshows in Milton Keynes
In April, residents across Milton Keynes had the opportunity to meet with their local policing teams and community safety partners at a series of Crime Prevention Roadshow events, organised by Thames Valley Police in collaboration with Milton Keynes City Council.
The roadshows held in Great Linford Parish were designed to engage local residents, raise awareness of neighbourhood crime trends, and provide practical advice on how to stay safe. Hosted at two locations in Great Linford Parish, these events focused on areas where community concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour had been on the rise in 2024/25.
PC 2459 Antony Hurd, Neighbourhood Supervisor for Great Linford Parish, explained:
“In April, our neighbourhood policing team, in collaboration with Milton Keynes City Council, hosted several Crime Prevention Roadshow events across Milton Keynes. These events provided a valuable opportunity to engage with members of the public, discuss their concerns, and offer practical crime prevention advice. We also signed up many residents to our free community messaging system, Thames Valley Alert.
These roadshows were instrumental in gathering significant intelligence and information about the local area. This insight is proving invaluable in our efforts to tackle local crime and anti-social behaviour. These events have also helped us build stronger relationships and improve communication with local residents.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to come out and speak with me at the LIDL store in Blakelands and St Leger Court in Great Linford. Your participation is crucial in making our community safer and more connected. Using the information provided by community members during these events, I have formed a new Patrol Plan with directed patrols to ensure visibility in the areas of greatest concern. This will help us address the issues raised by you.
I hope we can host similar events in the future, continuing our collaborative efforts to enhance neighbourhood safety.”

A number of Councillors from Great Linford Parish, including Cllr Brindley, Cllr Onan, Cllr Nicholls, and Cllr Howard, attended the events. Cllr Wendy Robinson attended and remarked: “It was an informative event and a great opportunity to meet people in the community.”
And from a wider community safety perspective, the impact of the roadshows was summed up by Deputy Local Police Area Commander for Milton Keynes, James Horseman:
“The Community Safety Partnership, supported by Thames Valley Police delivered this series of crime prevention Roadshows, targeting local districts that had seen an increase in Neighbourhood Crime reporting through 2024/25. This was seen as an excellent opportunity to engage with the community, provide direct advice and guidance and signpost to support services to safeguard individuals and prevent crime. The events were well supported by partner agencies and the community with more than 1100 people engaged over the week. This is an excellent example of how working together can be effective in making Milton Keynes a safer and positive place to live and work.”
By working together—residents, police, councils, and partner organisations— Great Linford Parish Council continues to take proactive steps toward a safer, stronger, and more connected community.
