Dog Bins In Great Linford Parish

Have Your Say
Earlier this year, we reported that Great Linford Parish Council (GLPC) had been awarded CIF funding to address community needs. You can read more about that HERE
Dog fouling and overflowing dog bins has always been a concern for residents who have asked GLPC to take action on this issue. Canal & River Trust removed three bins from our parish without consultation, which has exacerbated the issue further.

Why Your Input Matters
To ensure we make the best use of this funding, we need your input. By participating in this public consultation, you can help us identify where new dog bins are most needed and how we can better tackle the issue. Your feedback is invaluable in creating a cleaner and more pleasant environment for everyone.
Important Considerations
When suggesting locations for new dog bins, please keep the following in mind:
Budget constraints: Unfortunately, we cannot afford to place them on every street corner.
Placement restrictions: We are not allowed to place bins on street furniture, such as lampposts or signs.
Land ownership: We cannot place bins on Parks Trust land, and there are restrictions from MK City Council regarding placement to consider.
We must also collectively acknowledge that removing dog waste is the responsibility of dog owners, and waste should be bagged, binned or taken home for disposal in the black bins.
Existing Dog Bins: A Snapshot
We have created a map of existing dog bins in our parish, which you can view here. This map shows where bins are currently located.
How You Can Help
We need your suggestions to identify:
Where are the gaps? Are there specific areas where you often see dog waste but no bins?
Where do dog walkers frequent? Which paths or routes are most commonly used by dog owners?
What open spaces need a dog bin? Are there parks or open areas lacking adequate dog waste options?
How to Submit Your Suggestions
You can share your suggestions in several ways:
Complete this form: https://forms.office.com/e/HkdRR9y9Qd
Send us a photo: Capture an image of the location along with the what3words location where you think a bin is needed and send it to glpc@great-linford.gov.uk
Send us the What Three Words location: Use the What Three Words app to pinpoint the exact location. https://what3words.com/
Draw a map: Sketch out the area and mark the spot, drop it into the Parish Office or email it to glpc@great-linford.gov.uk with as much detail about the location as possible
Next Steps
Once we gather your feedback, GLPC will review the suggestions. Our goal is to implement the best possible solution for our community with the resources available.
By working together, we can tackle the issue of dog waste in our community and ensure that Great Linford Parish remains a clean and enjoyable place for everyone. Your participation in this consultation is crucial, and we thank you in advance for your contributions.
We will share updates about this initiative on our website and in our monthly newsletter.
