Downhead Park Little Library

We’re delighted to share that the Little Library in Downhead Park has been restored and is now back in place for the community to enjoy!

After being vandalised in November, Parish Rangers carefully removed the library and took it to Men In Sheds in Kiln Farm, where it was repaired with skill and care. Thanks to their efforts, the library has now been reinstated and is ready to serve local residents once again.

The Downhead Park Little Library is one of six across the parish, all aimed at encouraging a love for reading and fostering community spirit. Residents are invited to:
📚 Take a book to read
📚 Share it with others
📚 Return it or donate another book

Eirwen Tagg, Parish Manager, shared her thoughts on the restoration: "The Little Libraries are a cherished part of our community, providing free access to books and encouraging a culture of reading for all ages. We’re so pleased to have the Downhead Park library back in place, thanks to the hard work of our Rangers and the support from Men In Sheds."

The Men In Sheds at Kiln Farm played a crucial role in the repairs. With over 100 members, the Shed provides a space for people to work on hobbies, learn new skills, and take part in community projects that improve health and well-being. Malcolm Archer from Men In Sheds commented: "We were happy to help restore the Little Library so that it could continue to serve the community. It’s great to see it back in place, ready for people to enjoy once more."

A big thank you to our Rangers and Men In Sheds for their dedication! We encourage everyone in the community to visit the Little Library in Downhead Park—borrow a book, share a story, and help keep this wonderful initiative alive.
