Neath Hill Memorial Gardens Autumn Update
Posted on 14th November 2024 at 11:17
As the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to fall, it might seem like Neath Hill Memorial Garden has gone quiet. But, as Parish Ranger Robin reminds us, there's plenty of activity beneath the surface!
Recently, Robin has been busy strimming the area and shaking the flower heads to disperse their seeds. He explained, “We had to wait until now to strim because we needed the flowers to go to seed.”
Cllr Burgess also shared some insight, saying, “Establishing a British wildflower garden takes patience, but it's worth it. Since WWII, the UK has lost 97% of its meadows. By cultivating wildflowers and grasses here, we’re helping restore lost habitats, providing food and shelter for countless species.”
What's Next? Robin’s upcoming tasks include planting tulips, crocuses, narcissi, and alliums in the roundel, at the centre of the garden, for a beautiful burst of colour in spring.
