Operation Sceptre: Working Together for a Safer Community
On Wednesday 19th November, Thames Valley Police carried out a series of knife sweeps in Conniburrow as part of Operation Sceptre, a national campaign to tackle knife crime. This initiative runs twice a year and aims to protect communities while encouraging individuals who carry knives to surrender them.

Representatives from Great Linford Parish Council joined the effort, including William Fry, Facilities and Grounds Technician, Tommy Hayes, Community Liaison Officer, and Cllr Wendy Robinson.

Cllr Wendy Robinson shared her thoughts on the day:
“Everyone must have thought something serious had happened if they saw us poking in bushes around Conniburrow today, but the good news is we found no knives. Getting knives off the street is important, and I was proud to support Op Sceptre as it helps deter the carrying of knives and ensures a safer community for residents.”

Tommy Hayes added:
“Happy to take part in this operation. A reminder that an Amnesty Knife Bin can be found at Conniburrow Community Centre.”
Knife Amnesty

Members of the public are invited to dispose of knives and bladed articles safely and legally. The bins, which are securely bolted to walls and concrete flooring, feature a letterbox design to allow knife deposits while preventing anyone from reaching inside.
Together, these efforts help make our community safer and reduce the risk of knife-related harm.
