rangers at work
In 2001, a bench was placed as part of a project supported by the Waterside Festival. That year, the festival celebrated the new millennium.
People came together to make this project happen, it was funded by money raised within our community.

Over the years, the bench became a popular spot for residents to rest and enjoy the surroundings. However, time and weather took their toll, and the once-loved bench fell into disrepair.
Enter GLPC Rangers Glenn and Darren, who saw the potential to bring the bench back to life. With dedication and skill, they set out to restore it to its former glory. First, they dismantled the bench and cleared the overgrown plants around it. They then sanded and painted the metal frame.
The next task was to tackle the seating. Sourcing new timber, they carefully varnished the wood and reassembled the bench. To complete the transformation, they added a brand-new plaque, a nod to the bench's legacy.

Thanks to Glenn and Darren, the bench is once again ready to be enjoyed by the community for many more years to come. A huge thank you to the GLPC Rangers for their hard work and dedication!
