Each week we provide a round-up of what's on in Great Linford Parish in Milton Keynes. This week's highlights include - Community Grants, FREE Fun Day, Resident Recognition Nominations
Hello, and welcome to a new week. We hope you had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend. Let's jump straight in and tell you some news and events that are going on in the parish in the next couple of weeks.
Did you know that each year Great Linford Parish Council provides grants to all sorts of nonprofit community groups that provide services and activities for residents within the parish. Grants can be awarded up to £1500 pounds, but the most common grant is awarded is £500
Grants are considered by the parish council twice a year, once in September and once in April. If you'd like to apply for a September grant, please get your applications in by the 18th of September. You can find out more information on our website, it's got all the details about how to apply, who is eligible, and what you need to do to apply for a grant. Community Fun Day
We have another community fun day. There'll be free bouncy castles free face painting free messy play, it's a great day out for the family. So make sure that date is in your diary.
Annual Recognition Awards
Also, on the 15th of October is our annual resident recognition awards. We want to know the superstars in our community. You can nominate someone via our websites or pop into the office to pick up a nomination form. We'd love to hear from you about the people that make a difference in our community.
Tuesday, Great Linford Community Hub from 12 till 4, and Community Larder is open from 11 Till 1
Age UK Drop in at the Community Larder, you do not need to be a member of the community larder to benefit from seeing an Age UK advisor. You can pop along for free, confidential, and independent information on any aspect of life over the age of 55. They offer benefit checks and can also help you make a claim so that is well worth a visit.
Talking of advice. Our regular Tuesday Citizen Advice session is on from 10 to 1 today at Great Linford Parish Council office. No appointment needed, so pop along, get some advice.
Also on Tuesday is the Youth Club at Conniburrow.
Split into two sessions, an early session from 5 till 7pm for ages 8 till 12, and then a later session from 7 till 9pm for children aged 12 to 16
We have the Lunch Club at Great Linford Parish Council meeting room from 12 till 2pm
Conniburrow Community Fridge is open from 5 till 7pm
Boxing Sessions for kids. Ages 8 till 12, between 6 pm and 7 pm, and ages 12 to 16, 7 to 8pm. That's run by Keeping Kids Off the Streets.
Great Linford Community Hub is open from 10 am to 4 pm
Yoga Wellbeing Class for seniors running from 9:30 am in the Parish Council Meeting Room, there's a cost of five pounds for that.
Also on Thursday, FREE Summer Basketball session running from 2 to 5 pm at the Conniburrow Muga.
Great Linford Community Fridge is open from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm
Great Linford Community Hub is open from 1pm to 4pm
Conniburrow Community Fridge is open from 12.30 am till 2.30 pm.
Dates for your diary.
MK rock and roll choir invites new members starting on Monday the 12th of September. The Rock and Roll choir will meet at Great Linford Memorial Hall from 8 till 9.30pm. £4 per session. No auditions just come along and sing.
The Parks Trust has various events running through September.
On Friday 9th of September, they've got a walk and talk, Discover great Linford Manor Park. These are free to join. But you do need to book so head over to the parks Trust website to book your place.
Also at Great Linford Manor Park is the Five Ways cafe. This is a dementia-friendly community cafe held at St. Andrew's church, and this is on Tuesday the 13th of September from 11am to 1pm. It's also worth bearing in mind that the poetry trial I mentioned last week is still on until the 4th September.
