Last Saturday, on the 4th of May, over 40 volunteers gathered in Downs Barn for a community litter pick. Their goal? To clean up the area for the benefit of residents and the safety of wildlife.

It was a beautiful spring day, and the volunteers, armed with gloves and rubbish bags, eagerly set out to scour the local area for litter. They managed to collect an impressive 240kg of rubbish, ensuring the area was clean and safe for all.

After the litter pick, the volunteers were rewarded with refreshments. It was a great opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy each other's company, and bask in the warm spring sunshine.

Cllr Christin Onan commented, “Litter picking is a great way to be out in the fresh air and is also family-friendly.”
The event was supported by the local parish councillors, whose help was greatly appreciated by all involved.
