The Gyosei Art Trail commemorates the legacy of Gyosei International School UK. The Japanese co-educational boarding school and playing fields closed in 2002 and the site at Willen Park South was redeveloped as Lovat Fields Village and a housing scheme.
The project was funded at no cost to local residents. The developer of the former Gyosei School site – Barratt Homes Northampton – was legally required to make a total Section 106 contribution of £3,802,833. This jas been used to support bus services, education, a new rugby sports ground, canal path improvements, community facilities, develop new Parks Trust land, improve 3 play areas and provide £60,000 for Public Art close to the site – The Gyosei Art Trail.
