ROCLA Art Trail
Redhouse Park’s Own Collection of Lasting Art funded from Avant Homes Section 106 monies.
Redhouse Park was formerly home to Rocla Pipes, who manufactured all sizes of concrete pipes that were used throughout the United Kingdom. After the company left in the late 1980s, the land became a brownfield site until Avant Homes developed the area.
S106 Developer funding paid for the artworks commissioned to make the ROCLA Art Trail. This reflects the nature, magic and location of the area, establishing a legacy for its residents.
The ROCLA Art Trail was opened by the Mayor, Councillor Martin Petchey on Sunday 2 September 2018 and has proved to be very popular with both residents of Redhouse Park and the many visitors that have travelled to enjoy it.
The Project Board responsible for creating it have been working hard to secure further funds to extend and expand public art on the site and nearby. Proposals were submitted to Milton Keynes Council to provide:
• additional play equipment for young children at the play park
• a large sun dial complete with sound post to explain how it works
• a mural in the Play Park that will give the community an opportunity to help design and create it
• a carved “kissing seat” located near to several existing artworks in Hopcrofts Meadow.
These works are referred to as Phase 2
Plans are also in hand for:
Phase 3 - the creation of horse sculpture on land between Redhouse Park and the new Lidl store to reflect its use as a former paddock.
Phase 4 – the extension of the ROCLA Art Trail into the new houses being built behind the Ramada Inn.
